M2M Named to Inc. 5000...Again

BOISE, Idaho — M2M Communications (M2M) has been included on Inc. Magazine's 5000 list of fastest growing companies for the third year in a row within the publication's September 2010 issue.

“The leaders of the companies on this year’s Inc. 5000 have figured out how to grow their businesses during the longest recession since the Great Depression,” said Inc. president Bob LaPointe. “The 2010 Inc. 5000 showcases a particularly hardy group of entrepreneurs.”

M2M offers wireless energy and water management solutions for utility and agriculture customers in the US and overseas. With 42 employees in Idaho and California, M2M was founded in 2003 and has been growing steadily every year since. M2M is an acronym for Machine-to-Machine communications technologies.

“With the increased worldwide focus on alternative energy and the improved management of our energy supply, our position within the industry will continue to expand,” said M2M president and founder Steve Hodges.

M2M produces a remote control system for the leading line of center pivot irrigation systems manufactured by Valley Irrigation known as the "Tracker." For PG&E in California, M2M is helping the electric utility meet critical peak power demands by shutting down large pieces of equipment on some hot summer afternoons. This program, which is called Peak Agriculture Energy Rewards (PEAR), offers cash and equipment incentives to growers in exchange for "NegaWatts." Other M2M products and services have been deployed by Idaho Power, PacifiCorp, KeySpan Energy and other utilities.

M2M products have been installed in over 15,000 locations in the USA and around the world.
